Nachum (Homi) Shamir President and Chief Executive Officer
Nachum (Homi) Shamir has served as our President and Chief Executive Officer and a director since April 9, 2006. Prior to joining us, Mr. Shamir served as Corporate Vice President of Eastman Kodak Company and as the President of Eastman Kodak´s Transaction and Industrial Solutions Group, which includes several business units, including Kodak Versamark, Inc. (whose operations were previously those of Scitex Digital Printing Inc.) of which Mr. Shamir was President and Chief Executive Officer. From June 2003 to January 2004, Mr. Shamir served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Scitex Corporation. From January 2001 to January 2004, he served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Scitex Digital Printing, having previously served as its Chief Operating Officer since July 2000. Prior thereto, Mr. Shamir was Managing Director and General Manager of Scitex Digital Printing (Asia Pacific) Pte Ltd., from the incorporation of this Singapore-based company in 1994. From 1993 until 1994 he was with the Hong Kong based Scitex Asia Pacific (H.K.) Ltd. Before joining Scitex, Mr. Shamir held senior management positions at various international companies mainly in the Asia Pacific regions. Mr. Shamir holds a B.Sc from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and an M.P.A. from Harvard University.
Kevin Rubey Chief Operations Officer
Kevin Rubey has served as our Chief Operations Officer since June 2001. Prior to joining us, from 1998 to May 2001, Mr. Rubey worked at Eastman Kodak Company, a consumer and professional photographic and information imaging company where he led global manufacturing and operations for the Health Imaging Business Unit. From 1996 to 1998, Mr. Rubey was Manufacturing Director of the Medical Imaging Business Unit of Imation Corporation, a U.S. information technology company specializing in data storage and color image management. Prior to that, from 1977 to 1996, Mr. Rubey worked at the 3M Corporation in a variety of positions in the health, consumer and information technology businesses. Mr. Rubey holds a B.Sc. in mechanical engineering and an M.B.A. from the University of Minnesota.
Yuval Yanai Chief Financial Officer
Yuval Yanai has served as our Chief Financial Officer since September 1, 2005. From October 2000 through August 2005, he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Koor Industries Ltd., one of Israel's largest holding corporations. Prior to that, from April 1998 to September 2000 he served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of NICE Systems Ltd., an Israeli global provider of Insight from Interactions, and from 1991 to April 1998, he was the Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Elscint Ltd., a former Israeli company engaged in the manufacturing of medical imaging devices that was acquired by larger companies in this field. He joined Elscint in 1985 and served as Corporate Controller and Corporate Treasurer through 1991. Mr. Yanai has served as a director of Makteshim-Agan Industries Ltd., Equity One, Inc., BVR Systems Ltd., Tadiran Communication Ltd., The Elisra Group and Telrad Networks Ltd. Mr. Yanai holds a B.Sc. in Accounting and Economics from the Tel Aviv University.
Thomas Looby Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer
Thomas Looby has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer since July 2010. Prior to that, from September 2006 until July 2010, he has served Given Imaging in various roles including the Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Planning and Director of Upper GI Products. Before joining Given Imaging, from January 2001 until September 2006, Mr. Looby worked for Eastman Kodak and Scitex Digital Printing as Director of Global Product Marketing and Business Strategy. Additionally, Mr. Looby has worked for Bayer, Chemineer and Giddings & Lewis in a variety of marketing and business management roles. Mr. Looby graduated with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and holds an MBA from the University of Dayton.
Dr. David Mason Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer
David Mason has served as Given Imaging's Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer since November 2008. Prior to joining Given Imaging, Dr. Mason had a 23-year career in the pharmaceutical industry, where he played a major role in the development and launch of multiple drugs and biological agents, most recently for inflammatory bowel diseases. In 2008-2009, Dr. Mason was a founding partner and CMO at Percept BioSciences in Atlanta. In the years prior his positions included Global Head of Inflammation and VP of Clinical Research at UCB Pharma, from 2003-2008; Senior VP of Clinical Research and Regulatory Affairs at AVI BioPharma from 2000-2003; VP, Head of Medical Affairs at Elan Pharmaceuticals from 1994-2000; and senior roles at Somatogen, Lederle Laboratories and Ciba-Geigy pharmaceuticals. Dr. Mason holds a BA in Chemistry from Willams College and an MD from Duke University School of Medicine and completed his postgraduate training at Duke University, the NIH, and the University of Michigan Medical Center, where he became Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. After his medical training Dr. Mason was in the private practice of Internal Medicine in North Carolina. Dr. Mason is Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
Ido Warshavski General Counsel & Corporate Secretary
Ido Warshavski has served as our General Counsel & Corporate Secretary since September 2004. Prior to joining us, from September 1999 to August 2004, Mr. Warshavski was a corporate attorney at Proskauer Rose LLP in New York, where he practiced general corporate and securities law, representing clients in public and private offerings, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate matters. Prior to that, from June 1997 to July 1998, Mr. Warshavski practiced commercial litigation at the firm of Weksler, Bregman & Co. in Tel Aviv, handling a variety of commercial disputes, and served as a junior lecturer in Civil Procedure at the College of Management Law School. Prior to that, from March 1996 until March 1997, as an intern at the firm of S. Horowitz & Co, he specialized in the areas of employment law and medical malpractice. Mr. Warshavski holds an LL.B., cum laude, from the College of Management Law School in Israel, and an LL.M. from Duke University School of Law in Durham, North Carolina.
Ori Braun Senior Vice President, Business Development
Ori Braun has served as Senior Vice President – Business Development since October 2006. Prior to joining us, Mr. Braun served as President of Valor Computerized Systems Inc., a leader in productivity increasing engineering software solutions to the PCB design, fabrication and assembly industry. From 2004 to 2005, he served as President of LifeWatch Inc., a leading cardiac monitoring services company. From 1985 to 2004, he founded and held various CEO and executive positions at Bventure Inc., a company providing services to medical startup companies, at 3DV Systems Inc., a company developing and selling 3D camera technology, at Helios Software Engineering Ltd., a company in the business of simulation technology that was acquired by Cadence Design Systems Inc., and at Lansoft Computing Ltd. During this period, Mr. Braun also co-founded Atria Inc., a company providing solutions for CHF patients. Between 1994 and 1996, Mr. Braun held the position of Vice President Business Development at Rafael Development Corporation, or RDC, a large shareholder of Given Imaging, which is a holding company controlled by Discount Investment Corporation Ltd., or DIC, another significant shareholder of Given Imaging. Mr. Braun holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the Ben Gurion University in Beer Sheva, Israel.
Keith A. Chrzanowski
Senior Vice President, Human Resources
Keith A. Chrzanowski has served as our Senior Vice President of Human Resources since January 1, 2008. Prior to that, from January 2005, until December 2007, he was Director of Human Resources of our Americas region. Prior to joining us, from July 2002 until January 2005, Mr. Chrzanowski was Senior Director/Vice President of Human Resources for McKesson Provider Technologies, a division of McKesson specializing in delivering software to include automation and robotics, business process re-engineering, analytics, and other services that connect healthcare providers, physicians, payors and patients across all care settings. From July 2000 until July 2002, Mr. Chrzanowski was Vice President of Human Resources for Spherion's Outsourcing Group which provided services to Fortune 500 customers. From 1991 to 2000, Mr. Chrzanowski worked as a Human Resource Manager and Director of Human Resources for diagnostic and medical supply divisions which initially were a part of Baxter Healthcare and eventually acquired by Cardinal Health in 1999. Prior to joining Baxter, Mr. Chrzanowski worked for Schlumberger Industries in the United States and Canada as a Human Resources Manager from 1987 until 1991. From 1983 until 1987 Mr. Chrzanowski held a variety of Human Resources positions in support of Beecham's Consumer Products businesses. Mr. Chrzanowski has a B.A. in Communications from Western Illinois University and an M.A. in Organizational Theory from Norwich University.
Skip Baldino President, Given Imaging, Americas
Skip Baldino has served as President, Americas since June 2010. Prior to joining Given Imaging, Mr. Baldino enjoyed a distinguished 26 year career at Abbott Laboratories - a worldwide diversified health care company. During his Abbott career, Mr. Baldino established an outstanding track record of consistent and high performing financial and organizational success. A divisional Vice President since 2002, he held key commercial leadership roles in several Abbott divisions - Diabetes Care; Diagnostics; Medical Products (Corporate); Hospital Products (now known as Hospira); Health Systems; and Specialty Products. His experience encompasses various key customer segments, as well as a wide range of product portfolios, product life-cycles, new product launches, and integrations. Mr. Baldino graduated with a bachelor's degree in Marketing from Philadelphia University.
Thomas Pracht President, Given Imaging, EMEA
Thomas Pracht has served as President Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA) since May 2011. Mr. Pracht joins Given Imaging from Schaaf Peemoller and Partner, an international executive consulting firm, where he specialized in management coaching and executive search consulting. Prior to joining Schaaf Peemoller and Partner, Mr. Pracht spent 18 years with Olympus Medical in various management roles. From July 2006 through March 2009, Mr. Pracht served as Managing Director of the EMEA region for Olympus Life Science Europa in the In-Vitro-Diagnostics unit, developing new sales and marketing strategies for the European region and emerging markets. From January 2005 to June 2006, Mr. Pracht served as Managing Director of the Medical Systems unit, where he identified and developed growth initiatives and strategy focused on the diagnosis-related market. Previously Mr. Pracht held numerous leadership positions in the Endoscope unit at Olympus, including General Manager, from 2001 to 2005, where he was responsible for the realignment of the sales and marketing teams during the organization’s merger with Olympus Winter & Ibe. Mr. Pracht holds a master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Hamburg University of Applied Sciences.
Dr. Kazem Samandari President, Asia Pacific/Japan Region
Kazem Samandari has served as our President, Asia Pacific/Japan Region since July 2007. Mr. Samandari has a long and successful track record of identifying technology- driven product concepts and taking them through successful commercialization. Mr. Samandari enjoys a versatile experience in both entrepreneurial and well established high-tech companies.
Prior to joining us Mr. Samandari held a variety of executive positions. From 2004 to 2007, Mr. Samandari was Executive Vice President Global Sales & Marketing at Eastman Kodak, Inkjet Printing Solutions. Mr. Samandari was responsible for worldwide sales & sales support, marketing & business development. From 1994 to 2004 Mr. Samandari held several positions at Scitex Digital Printing operations, including Vice President, Asia Pacific & Japan between 2001 and 2004, and was in charge of the commercial, technical & legal aspects of the activities in the region. From 1986 to 1994, Mr. Samandari served as Managing Director of GMC Digital Systems, a high-tech start-up company founded in 1984, and a pioneer in the field of high speed, high performance, digital printing equipment. Mr. Samandari holds a Ph.D. in technical sciences and industrial economy from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and a M.S. degree in electrical & electronics engineering.
Dr. Thomas (Tom) Parks President, Sierra Business Unit
Tom Parks has served as President, Sierra Business Unit since April 1, 2010. Prior to joining Given Imaging, Dr. Parks served as President and CEO of Sierra Scientific Instruments LLC, a company that joined Sierra with Alpine Biomed, GI Diagnostics Division in September 2009. Six years prior to that, he co-founded Sierra Scientific Instruments, Inc. - a developer and manufacturer of novel physiological pressure imaging and reflux monitoring systems that serve the GI diagnostics market – and served as its President and CEO. Prior to that, from 1990 until 2003 Dr. Parks co-founded and served as Co-President of ECP Systems, a developer of electromechanical apparatuses and real-time control systems used in the engineering laboratories of over 500 universities worldwide. Dr. Parks served for 18 years in the aerospace industry in senior management and technologist roles for Hughes Space and Communications Group and Boeing Satellite Systems. In these roles, he was responsible for the development and production of spacecraft sensor and instrumentation systems and led numerous R&D and production projects for NASA, Classified, and commercial customers. Dr. Parks holds 14 patents and patents pending in the aerospace and biotechnology fields, a BSME from CSU-Fresno, an MSME and a Ph.D. from the University of Southern California.
