Community Involvement and Social Responsibility Vision
At Given Imaging we are very proud to belong to the communities in which we work. We believe that strong neighborhoods are vital to the well-being of our society and economy, and we manage our global community involvement and social responsibility as part of the general strategic objectives of the company.
We feel we have a special responsibility and role to play in helping our communities thrive and become a better place to live and work because we are there. We believe in contribution that is based on volunteering activities, and that vision is supported by the company as a whole.
Given Imaging and Education
As a leading company that works in an advanced technology environment, Given Imaging chooses to focus on technology and education, in order to give a better chance to children and youth in our nearby neighborhoods.
Given Imaging supports programs that put education, job readiness, and workplace training within the reach of everyone. We would like to provide tools and opportunities for underprivileged youth to become productive members of our community.
Some of our education initatives have included:
• Individual volunteering work at local schools - supporting excellence and those at risk
• Donations of computers and Internet courses for elderly people
• Computer donations to 6th grade students
Given Imaging and Community Needs
Helping with community needs is a year-round commitment at Given Imaging. We set aside a special time to help our less fortunate neighbors, and our volunteers reach out to support specific needy populations.
Some of our community initatives have included:
• Renovations of houses and community places
• Deliveries of food packets for the needy
• Repair of appliances and other equipment for donation to needy families
Given Imaging and the Environment
Given Imaging's efforts to improve our communities have extended beyond community projects to a the development of a company-wide policy to promote business practices that help preserve the environment.
In order to avoid environmental damages, the company inspects the impact of its activities in our production lines and in our offices. We make sure to remove garbage, to reduce waste and to save energy, paper and plastic. Our goals are to strive to "reduce—reuse—recycle" in our daily activities.
We see in each and every one of the employees a vital element in the organizational effort to preserve the environment, and we expect each employee to act according to the organizational mechanisms in order to protect the environment for community well-being and for future generations.
