PillCam® COLON has been shown to offer sensitivity and specificity comparable to colonoscopy for detecting polypoid lesions and colorectal polyps.
These results are well in line with the colon capsule endoscopy–sensitivity values of 89% and 88% assessed in the previous Israeli study, confirming a high colon capsule endoscopy sensitivity for clinically relevant lesions.1
“These rates are higher than the 50% cutoff for sensitivity that has been adopted by the American Cancer Society to define a test acceptable for screening purposes, and are comparable or superior to those of other noninvasive screening tests,” as stated in the 2012 ESGE Colon Capsule Endoscopy Guidelines.2
