At Given Imaging, we're pleased to support programs that provide meaningful research, education and innovation to our healthcare community. To be considered, requests for support need to:
- Align with our goal of developing and providing healthcare professionals with patient-friendly solutions for visualizing abnormalities of the GI tract
- Focus on our specific business, educational or research areas
- Follow the appropriate government or organizational guidelines
We believe education is one of the most important tools we can provide the healthcare community. So we're proud to support advances in medical technology and the patient benefits they provide through ongoing education for gastroenterologists, nurses and other healthcare professionals via our grant program.
Educational grant requests are reviewed upon receipt by the Health Care Compliance department and a Grant Review Committee at Given Imaging. Every grant we award is based on the merit of the educational program as reflected in the submission and its alignment with Health Care Compliance policies. Additional criteria for awarding a grant include but are not limited to the following factors:
- Requesting organization’s overall mission and key objectives
- Addresses an unmet medical education need
- Promotes enhanced patient care
- Based on scientific rationale and merit
- Directed to an appropriate broad audience
- Availability of funds
Per Given Imaging policy and industry standards embodied in the AdvaMed Code of Ethics on Interactions with Health Care Providers, we do not directly pay for conference costs such as facilities, faculty honoraria and travel expenses. All approved grant funding is provided directly to the conference provider to offset overall conference expenses.
Given Imaging respects the Standards for Commercial Support of Continuing Medical Education as published by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and as such will not seek to control the content or management of third-party programs (for example, selection of topics, faculty or attendees). No awards are determined by taking into account the volume or value of business that could be potentially generated by the grant sponsor. The grant sponsor is not obligated to purchase, use, recommend or arrange for the use of any Given Imaging product.
Organizations Eligible to Request Educational Grants
The following types of organizations are eligible to request support for unrestricted educational grants from Given Imaging:
- Academic Medical Institutions
- Hospitals
- Professional Medical Societies
- Patient Advocacy Organizations
- Accredited CME Providers
Individual healthcare professionals, group practices and commercial organizations are ineligible to request or receive grant funding from Given Imaging.
